Appeal Update
Thank you to all those who have responded generously to this appeal. Each week we continue to receive donations. What we are seeking is not equal gifts but equal sacrifice and a contribution from all our Parishioners. WHY A NEW CHURCH?
Our church is the backbone of the Catholic Community in Cambridge.
Our brief history speaks of buildings and priests, but little of the people: The church is first and always, its people, the ‘living stones’ who are the life of any parish. They are the ones who made great sacrifices of time, money and energy to provide what we have today.
NOW ALMOST 100 YEARS ON, WE ARE FACED WITH A SIMILAR CHALLENGE
Following seismic testing, our present building has been assessed as Grade D within the earthquake prone categories, and the Council requires us to provide a church that meets today’s safety standards.
Following a Parish-wide consultation a decision was made in favour of building a new Church and Presbytery (circa 1915) making maximum use of the site.

In 2020 PAUA Architects won the design competition for a new St Peters Catholic church in Cambridge that looks to the future.
The new church design incorporates architectural elements salvaged from the original church and is built to suit the modern liturgy and worship, and to enable parish growth.
